Cristiano Ronaldo makes promise to Dominik Szoboszlai as tunnel footage emerges of Liverpool star

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szobozslai was seen talking to Cristiano Ronaldo after Portugal beat Hungary on Tuesday.

Szoboszlai received huge praise for his performance against Ireland last week, and the midfielder was among his country’s best players again on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a strong start to the season, scoring the winner when Liverpool beat Arsenal 1-0 at Anfield before the break.

Szoboszlai scored a stunning free kick against Arsenal, and wowed onlookers with his solid performance filling in at right-back for the injured Jeremie Frimpong.

Liverpool and Hungary’s Milos Kerkez also impressed against Ireland, and the defender was selected again for the clash against Portugal.

Cristiano Ronaldo makes shirt swap promise to Dominik Szoboszlai

Alan Shearer has hailed Szoboszlai for his early-season performances, and the midfielder continued to impress against Portugal.

The 24-year-old made several defensive contributions and won two fouls, but could not prevent Hungary’s narrow loss.

A late goal from Joao Cancelo sealed the win for the visitors, just two minutes after Barnabas Varga had got his second to equalise for Hungary.

Following the game, Szoboszlai was captured on camera talking to former Real Madrid and Manchester United star Ronaldo.

The Liverpool man had given the forward his shirt, but Ronaldo had already swapped his with another player.

Instead, the 40-year-old promised Szoboszlai his shirt when the two countries meet in Portugal next month.

Kerkez and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes were also seen in the video, seemingly having swapped shirts themselves.

Dominik Szoboszlai to return to midfield against Burnley

Szoboszlai has massively impressed for Liverpool whilst playing on the right of defence against Newcastle United and Arsenal.

But with Frimpong set to make his return for the Reds after the international break, the 24-year-old can return to his best position in midfield.

Arne Slot will be forced into another difficult decision, however. Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister have impressed this season and will be hard to leave out.

Instead, it is Liverpool’s £116million man, Florian Wirtz, who has not yet sparked into action.

But Slot will be reluctant to leave the German out, knowing the ability the 22-year-old undoubtedly possesses.

The Dutchman already faces a difficult decision in the attack with Alexander Isak set to be introduced, but the set-up of his midfield also poses an interesting conundrum.
