Argentinian media hand Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister shock rating despite impressive display
Liverpool have started the season in fine form, sitting top of the table and unbeaten.
Liverpool‘\‘s 1-0 win over Arsenal established their title credentials, as Arne Slot looks to win back-to-back Premier League trophies.
One player who has had a disrupted start to the campaign is Alexis Mac Allister.
Mac Allister missed Liverpool’s 3-2 win over Newcastle and has only just played his first 90 minutes of the season for his country.
Argentina lost 1-0 to Ecuador in a World Cup qualifier, with the national press handing him an extremely harsh rating.
What the Argentinian media said about Alexis Mac Allister

Argentina had already comfortably qualified for 2026 World Cup as group winners before their loss to Ecuador, yet media outlet Bolavip was incredibly critical of Mac Allister’s performance.
They said: “Alexis Mac Allister (4): He looked physically diminished, as he wasn’t at 100% and couldn’t make a difference in the midfield. Towards the end of the match, he had a tense exchange with Piero Hincapie.”
The Argentinian media praised Mac Allister in March after a brilliant performance against Brazil, yet the press were much more harsh regarding his display against Ecuador.
However, satistically, the Liverpool midfielder played much better than anyone else on the pitch.
Mac Allister’s match rating was the best out of anyone on the field, and the media’s harsh words do not reflect on his actual performance.

Alexis Mac Allister looking to win second World Cup in 2026
Mac Allister became the first Brighton player to be part of a World Cup-winning squad, with the Argentina international proving to be pivotal in the knockout stages.
His assist in the thrilling final against France was hailed as one of the passes of the tournament, and he’ll now defend the trophy with Argentina.
Argentina were clearly the best team in South America during qualifying, finishing nine points clear of second-placed Ecuador.
Perennial rivals Brazil have been well-below par, whilst the likes of Uruguay and Colombia are significantly weaker in quality.
They’ll be judged for the performances against some of the European heavyweights, with Spain potentially considered as the favourites for the tournament.
