Supercomputer predicts where Liverpool will finish in Champions League

Liverpool are aiming to win in all competitions next year, after falling short in Europe and the cups last season.

The Reds won the Premier League title with ease, but it took away focus from other competitions, as they crashed out of the Champions League, lost the Carabao Cup final and were shocked in the FA Cup.

A summer of heavy spending has meant that Liverpool are favourites to win the Premier League again, and with extra squad depth, Arne Slot will be hoping to compete on all fronts.

Liverpool were beaten by eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last season, but have now been backed to go further than the French side this time.

Liverpool backed to win Champions League

Liverpool were the biggest spenders in Europe in the summer transfer window, and the British record fee paid for Alexander Isak was more than any other player cost.

The squad is now ready to compete on several fronts, with Isak and Hugo Ekitike set to fight it out for a place upfront, and this could see Liverpool go a lot further in the Champions League.

Opta’s supercomputer has now made its predictions for the upcoming campaign, and has now backed Liverpool to win the Champions League for the seventh time.

Liverpool have been given a 20.4 per cent chance of glory, with Premier League runners-up Arsenal second with a 16 per cent chance.

PSG and Manchester City have been given 12.1 and 8.4 per cent chances of lifting the trophy, with Barcelona and Chelsea just behind.

Liverpool can draw level with Milan with Champions League triumph

Should Liverpool win the Champions League this season, it will be the seventh time they have lifted the trophy, and this will draw them level with AC Milan.

Milan beat Liverpool in the 2007 final to win their seventh, and only Real Madrid have more, with 15 trophies to their name.

Liverpool are currently level with Bayern Munich on six titles, but striker, Harry Kane has also admitted that Liverpool could be favourites to win.

Barcelona have a shot of victory, and should they triumph, they will draw level with Liverpool and Bayern on six titles, while Arsenal have never won it, and PSG’s victory last season was their first.
