Jeff Stelling baffled as Jurgen Klopp return for Premier League job suggested
Liverpool’s legendary ex-manager Jurgen Klopp has been linked with a sensational return to English football.
Klopp is an icon at Liverpool after he took the Reds from obscurity back to their rightful place as a global powerhouse.
The former Borussia Dortmund man won the Premier League and Champions League in a magical nine-year reign at Anfield.
Arne Slot returned Liverpool to Premier League champions after replacing the German, but could he soon be joined by Klopp in the top-flight?

Liverpool legend Jurgen Klopp touted for Nottingham Forest role
Liverpool icon Klopp was linked with a return to management earlier this year, as he was apparently discontent in his role at Red Bull.
However, he stayed put, but he has been put forward for the vacancy at Nottingham Forest following the shock dismissal of Nuno Espirito Santo.
Jeff Stelling read out a text into talkSPORT live on air on 9 September (6:17 am), saying: “I know he probably won’t, but the Forest Job is made for Jurgen Klopp.”
Stelling reacted to the ridiculous claim, saying: “He definitely won’t.”
Co-host Ally McCoist said: “No chance, no, I wouldn’t see it.”
Jurgen Klopp has already ruled out English return
Klopp’s relationship with the Liverpool supporters is one of the most iconic in the club’s history.
He will not be willing to risk harming that by returning to the English game with another club, and he has said as much.
Speaking in January 2024, he said: “What I know definitely – I will never, ever manage a different club in England than Liverpool, 100 per cent.
“That’s not possible. My love for this club, my respect for the people, is too big. I couldn’t. I couldn’t for a second think about it. There’s no chance.”
- Klopp managed 489 matches for Liverpool
- He won 304 games, drew 100 and lost 85
- He won seven trophies with the Reds, including the big two
Klopp is not willing to risk his reputation amongst the Anfield faithful by coming back to the same league, and why would he go to Forest?
That is a huge step down from the level of clubs that he has managed in his last two spells, and his status has not diminished since he left the Reds, to make him need to take that job.
He spoke about his tiredness when leaving Merseyside, and he probably finds the gig with the energy drink brand turned football conglomerate, a lot less taxing than club management.
It is a hard sell to see him replacing Nuno at the City Ground. Stelling is probably right, with Ange Postecoglou looking likely now.
