Liverpool fans in full agreement over Domink Szoboszlai after Hungary draw – ‘Best in the world’
Dominik Szoboszlai had a point to prove heading into this season at Liverpool, but he has started in the best way possible.
The big-money arrival of Florian Wirtz caused many to speculate that Szoboszlai would lose his starting spot in the Liverpool midfield, but a new role has opened up for him.
Szoboszlai started at right-back against Arsenal and was truly outstanding, as his excellent free-kick proved to be the match-winner.
The 24-year-old started for Hungary against the Republic of Ireland in their World Cup qualifying clash, and Liverpool fans have had a lot to say about his performance.

Liverpool fans laud Dominik Szoboszlai
Arne Slot may believe that Szoboszlai’s best position is now at right-back, but the Hungarian moved back into midfield as he lined up against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin.
Milos Kerkez and Caoimhin Kelleher also started in a match where Hungary went 2-0 up very quickly, but Ireland pulled back two goals to secure a dramatic draw.
Szoboszlai assisted the second goal, scored by Roland Sallai as he headed in from the Liverpool star’s excellent corner delivery, and he performed superbly throughout.
Liverpool fans now believe he is one of the best midfielders in the world, with his versatility also proving useful, and one fan even described him as one of the “Top five players in the Premier League.”
“I got a weird feeling he’s the best footballer in the world,” another claimed.
Dominik Szoboszlai to play different roles for Hungary and Liverpool
While Slot clearly values Szoboszlai’s versatility and the skillset he brings to his new role at right-back, Hungary do not feel the same way.
Hungary manager Marco Rossi denied the idea of using Szoboszlai as a right-back before the Ireland clash, stating that he will aim to use him in a position to maximise his qualities.
“I don’t think so, to be honest. We will employ him – I do not like this word ‘use’. You cannot ‘use’ persons. We will employ him. We will employ him in the position which is more comfortable for him and more useful for us,” Rossi claimed.
For Liverpool, though, Szoboszlai has made himself undroppable, but looks likely to continue as a right-back for now.
When Jeremie Frimpong does return from injury, Slot will have a decision to make over his midfield, but it is clear that Szoboszlai has to be on the teamsheet.
