Blow for Arne Slot as Real Madrid enter the race for ‘aggressive’ Liverpool target

Liverpool have completed an incredible summer in the transfer market.

Liverpool signed Alexander Isak on transfer deadline day to top off what has been an almost perfect summer window.

Florian Wirtz was the other marquee signing to arrive at Anfield, while deals for Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong were also key to the Reds’ rebuild.

Liverpool were able to secure the signing of centre-back Giovanni Leoni from Parma after allowing Jarell Quansah to leave for Bayer Leverkusen.

However, another backline target could be under threat from a familiar foe.

Marc Guehi subject to interest away from Liverpool

Liverpool failed in their pursuit of Marc Guehi after Crystal Palace pulled the plug on the deal on deadline day, after a medical had been completed.

The Reds pushed to get the deal done before Monday’s 7pm deadline, but Palace’s inability to source a replacement meant the deal fell through.

Now, the Star are reporting that Liverpool face a five-team battle to secure the former Chelsea youngster’s services next summer.

Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in signing Guehi, who will be available on a free transfer next summer.

Guehi can sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January, but Chris Bascombe has reported that Liverpool still believe that Guehi will move to Anfield.

Liverpool have to get the Guehi deal over the line

The Reds have been brilliant at getting deals done for top talent over the summer, with the phrase “only wants Liverpool” becoming a common one among fans.

The saying appears to be the case again for the ‘aggressive’ Guehi, but with the big clubs in Europe now sniffing for his signature, Arne Slot’s side need to move quickly to make sure the move happens.

If the defender moves to Merseyside, Liverpool have super team that will surely become a dynasty.

If he doesn’t, however, the future of the Reds’ backline is in jeopardy, especially if Ibrahima Konate leaves on a free transfer to Real Madrid.
