Supercomputer predicts where Liverpool will finish in Premier League as transfer window closes

Liverpool have arguably had their most impressive transfer window to date, bringing in several statement signings over the course of the summer.

Alexander Isak has finally joined Liverpool after a long, drawn-out saga with Newcastle, and he follows Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz in as high-profile attacking signings.

Arne Slot won the Premier League in his first attempt last season, and after such a huge summer of spending, Liverpool will be favourites to triumph again.

The signing of Isak followed Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal, who are expected to be their main competition, and their title chances have now been predicted.

Supercomputer backs Liverpool for Premier League title

Liverpool have now been backed to retain their Premier League title ahead of Arsenal and Manchester City, following their outstanding summer window and winning start to the campaign.

Despite not being at their best, Liverpool have won all three of their games, including a crunch clash with Arsenal, while Man City have been beaten by Tottenham and Brighton.

Opta have now given Liverpool a 50.54 per cent chance of winning the title, and have given them an expected points total of 79.02, higher than anyone else.

While Liverpool will be confident given the signings they have made, they will know better than anyone that nothing is guaranteed in football, and there is one concern.

Liverpool defensive depth a concern after Marc Guehi collapse

While Liverpool’s window was perhaps the most impressive in the league, as Europe’s highest spenders, they did miss out on a key target in Marc Guehi.

A deal to take Guehi to Liverpool fell through at the very last minute, despite Guehi already completing a medical and photoshoot in Reds colours.

This could provide perhaps the biggest risk to Liverpool’s title challenge. Ibrahima Konate already picked up an injury scare against Arsenal, while there is limited other experienced depth for Virgil van Dijk.

If there was to be a significant injury to one of Van Dijk or Konate, Liverpool may encounter some trouble, which could encourage Slot to bring Guehi in during the January transfer window.
