West Ham could halt Marc Guehi to Liverpool as Crystal Palace concerns emerge
Liverpool’s hopes of landing Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi are set to go right down to the transfer deadline amid a new twist that involved West Ham United.
Liverpool remain hopeful of signing Guehi before the 7pm deadline on 1 September, with a medical potentially taking place in London.
Arne Slot’s men are rejigging their defensive options, with Joe Gomez being allowed to join AC Milan on a four-year deal.
However, time is fast ticking down for Liverpool to get a deal over the line for long-term target Guehi.

Crystal Palace want to sign Igor Julio as Marc Guehi replacement
Palace have made it clear they want to bring in replacements for Guehi before allowing the defender to join Liverpool.
However, there is now potentially a spanner in the works amid an update provided by Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett via X.
Dorsett reported just after 1pm that, while Igor was undergoing a medical with Palace, the Eagles still have concerns West Ham could hijack the deal.
Should West Ham indeed pounce for Igor, it would lessen Liverpool’s chances of being able to bring in Guehi as Palace will effectively be out of time to find another replacement.
It is added that Guehi will not necessarily have to undergo a medical on Merseyside if this develops in the way Liverpool fans hope, which would help to speed up the process.
Liverpool running out of time to finalise Marc Guehi deal
Premier League clubs have a little leeway when it comes to the 7pm deadline on 1 September, but all the essentials still need to be in place.
- Guehi has made 135 appearances in the Premier League so far
- Played 161 times for Palace and was key in their FA Cup victory
- Lack of European experience – played in two Europa Conference League qualifiers
Time is fast ticking down to the window closing and there are still plenty of pieces that need to move into place, namely Igor completing a medical with Palace and that deal being finalised.
It seems that only then will Guehi be given permission to undergo his Liverpool medical, with the hope that he will be a Red come the end of the day.
