Marc Guehi transfer twist emerges as medical booked in for Liverpool move
Liverpool are trying to bring Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi in on deadline day but they face significant hurdles.
Guehi is keen to join Liverpool, but Palace boss Oliver Glasner is reluctant to see the England international leave Selhurst Park.
It feels as though the tide is changing though, as the FA Cup winners are bringing in reinforcements, which could free Liverpool to sign Guehi before the deadline.
However, that may a difficult task for Arne Slot‘s side.

Liverpool confident of securing Marc Guehi deal
Liverpool’s chances of signing Guehi seemed to be reducing, but now, they may have a chance to nab the 25-year-old.
Paul Joyce claimed on 1 September that the Reds are optimistic that they can finalise a deal for the Three Lions star.
He states that a medical would take place in London for the Englishman ahead of a £35million transfer to Anfield, which would be a bargain if they can get it over the line.
Marc Guehi would be a brilliant signing for Liverpool
Guehi would be a top-quality addition for Slot’s side, as he is a brilliant depth piece that could even take Ibrahima Konate‘s starting spot.
With so many games in so many competitions, the Reds needed backup for their starting duo, and Guehi would be the best option, given Giovanni Leoni’s lack of experience at the top level and Joe Gomez’s injury issues.
- Guehi has made 135 appearances in the Premier League so far
- Played 161 times for Palace and was key in their FA Cup victory
- Lack of European experience – played in two Europa Conference League qualifiers
It is telling that the Anfield side are pushing to sign Guehi for a fee of around £40million, when they could have gotten him for free next summer.
Clearly, they rate him very highly and feel like the fee that they would be spending is well worth it, to bring Guehi to Merseyside for a significant fee, rather than paying nothing in a year’s time.
It could be an inspired decision as he could be a pivotal figure in their title defence and could help them to potentially win the Champions League.
