Liverpool star Jurgen Klopp dubbed ‘incredible’ could leave on deadline day, ‘one to watch’

Liverpool’s attention will be on incomings on transfer deadline day, but there could be significant outgoings at Anfield.

Liverpool have already sold Caoimhin Kelleher, Ben Doak, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Jarrell Quansah which has allowed them to reinvest in the squad.

Alexander Isak looks set to join Liverpool, after a £125million fee was agreed with Newcastle, and Marc Guehi could join him on Merseyside.

That could lead to an exit for one of Jurgen Klopp‘s favourites to depart.

Harvey Elliott could leave Liverpool on transfer deadline day

Harvey Elliott has been linked with a Liverpool exit all summer, after struggling to force his way into Arne Slot’s plans.

Daily Mail reporter Lewis Steele claimed on 1 September that there have been no official bids for Elliott yet, but he could leave if the money is right.

He states that RB Leipzig have made numerous approaches but have not met the £50m asking price, however, they may come back to the table and it is one to watch.

Former Reds boss Klopp labelled Elliott as “incredible” ahead of the Europa League clash with Union Saint-Gilloise in December 2023.

He said: “What we really forget from time to time is he is still super young. He has [played] an incredible amount of games already and top games.

“Before the bad injury Harvey was the best player we had, he had the best performances, definitely. Then he got badly injured, came back, took a while until he got up to speed again, but what he showed in the last game and what he showed in a lot of moments when we bring him on, what he showed for England’s Under-21s, that’s all what Harvey Elliott can be.

“With his skillset he will be in the future super influential. He has to connect things, he has the ability to do that, he has the overview, he has the technique, the dynamic. He has it.

Liverpool should keep Elliott and not sell him

Elliott is one of the best talents in English football, and the Reds could regret a sale if they ultimately sanction one.

He showed last season that he can still come up with magical moments, with the highlight of his season being a late winner against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League when his side had been dominated for the majority of the game.

The England Under-21 star was handed just 822 minutes last season by Slot, though, and will want to play first-team football with the hope of making the England squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Whether the Premier League champions can give him that remains to be seen, and a departure may be seen as the best outcome for both parties with the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz ahead of him in the pecking order.

However, it would be a sore one for supporters, as Elliott is rated very highly amongst the fanbase.
