Liverpool make Jayden Danns decision amid deadline day loan interest

Liverpool have decided on Jayden Danns’ future on deadline day.

Danns was supposed to spend the second half of last season at Sunderland, but Liverpool decided he needed to stay to recover from a back injury.

Danns has notched three goals in nine senior appearances for the Anfield outfit, but he is behind Hugo Ekitike in the pecking order.

Alexander Isak looks set to join Liverpool, which would relegate the 19-year-old even further down the ranks.

Jayden Danns set to stay put at Liverpool

Danns has caught the eye in Liverpool’s youth ranks, and there was speculation that he could be sent on loan to further his development.

The Athletic’s James Pearce reported on 1 September that Danns is set to stay put on Merseyside despite significant interest.

He states that the Reds will not sanction a loan for the youngster, as they are managing his fitness carefully.

However, he added that they may reconsider the situation when the winter transfer window comes around.

Liverpool stay makes sense for Jayden Danns

Staying in the youth ranks on Merseyside and building up his fitness is the most sensible option for Danns at this point.

His rise to stardom has been set back by injury issues, so he needs to show Arne Slot that he can stay fit and contribute.

The fact that the L4 outfit will revisit the situation when the window reopens suggests that they want to loan him out, but want to ensure that he is fully recovered from his injury first.

That is the right approach, because if he goes on loan again and gets injured, it will hinder his development massively.

He probably will not see much senior action, with the likes of Ekitike and Isak ahead of him, but he will work on his game in the Under-21s and come back as a better player.
