Liverpool have completely embarrassed Crystal Palace as terms of Marc Guehi transfer revealed
Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is undergoing a medical ahead of a move to Liverpool in the closing hours of the transfer window.
The Reds’ pursuit of the England international has taken twists and turns on deadline day, with Arne Slot hoping he would have a new defender to bolster his backline.
It then emerged that Liverpool were confident of sealing the move for Guehi, but a replacement still needed to be found by decision-makers at Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace have now sealed a loan deal for Guehi’s replacement, Igor Julio, who will arrive from Brighton.
The deal for the 25-year-old will cap off what has been an incredible transfer deadline day that has also seen Liverpool reach an agreement to sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

Liverpool reach £35million deal to sign Marc Guehi
After Ibrahima Konate was forced off injured against Arsenal on Sunday, Liverpool’s search for a new defender was intensified.
And the Reds are now set to get their man, with a deal agreed for Guehi to undergo a medical ahead of a deadline day move.
Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday 1 September that the deal will be worth over £35million plus a 10 per cent sell-on clause.
Guehi has already agreed personal terms with Liverpool and will now look to complete the formalities of the deal before the 7pm deadline.
Liverpool complete bargain move for Marc Guehi
Liverpool are signing a superb player in Guehi, an established Premier League and England defender.
The 25-year-old is superb on the ball and rock solid in the tackle, proving key for Crystal Palace’s FA Cup-winning success last season.
Guehi presents exceptional underlying stats, and would very likely be attracting a price tag worth well over £60m, should his contract situation be kinder in respect to Palace.
Marc Guehi | Premier League 2024/25 (per 90) |
Tackles | 1.80 |
Passes into final third | 3.77 |
Blocks | 1.49 |
Successful take-on percentage | 80% |
But Liverpool will pay just over half of that, in what will is the latest superb piece of business completed by Richard Hughes.
Palace will hurt at the sight of the fee, and the loss of their star defender, but the Reds will be extremely happy to cap off what has been a ridiculously good summer window for Slot’s chances of bringing consecutive Premier League titles to Anfield.
