Liverpool could make major deadline day mistake as update drops on ‘special’ star
Liverpool are very much active on transfer deadline day.
Alexander Isak is set to join Liverpool from Newcastle United for a British-record £125million, in a deal that fans have been anticipating all summer.
Liverpool are also pushing to sign Marc Guehi on deadline day, but are running out of time to get that deal over the line due to Crystal Palace trying to source a defensive replacement.
The Reds have had a stunning window, but a mistake is being made in the final hours of the window.

Harvey Elliott set for Aston Villa move
Harvey Elliott is set to leave Liverpool for Aston Villa on deadline day.
Elliott will be leaving on an initial season-long loan, with an obligation to make the deal permanent for £35m next summer.
Aston Villa have endured a miserable window due to PSR restrictions for the second season in a row, but a deal for the midfielder will be seen as a masterstroke as they look to recover from their terrible early-season form.
Elliott – previously hailed as “special” by Neil Mellor – leaves Liverpool after 149 appearances for his boyhood club, registering 35 goal involvements in that time.
Harvey Elliott would have been perfect cover for Mohamed Salah
Mohamed Salah is set to join up with Egypt for the African Cup of Nation in the winter.
That leaves Liverpool without their star player for six weeks between December and January, a run that includes a crunch clash with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
In 2023/24, Elliott took on the creative mantle while the Egyptian was away and thrived, leading Jurgen Klopp’s side to six wins from seven Premier League games to keep them in the title race.

This time around, the Reds’ backup right winger is Federico Chiesa, who has yet to impress at Anfield.
If Liverpool begin to struggle during the winter months while their talisman is away at AFCON, then they’ll look back at this decision with regret.
