Rio Ngumoha leads messages as Cody Gakpo signs new deal

Cody Gakpo has signed a new long-term contract at Liverpool.

Gakpo has impressed at the start of the season, following the departures of both Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, with three goal involvements in the first two games of the season.

The Dutchman improved dramatically last season in Slot’s first season in charge, notching up 25 goal contributions in 49 games, and has been rewarded with a new deal.

Under Liverpool’s announcement of Gakpo‘s new contract, many of his teammates have posted positive messages.

Ngumoha and Harvey Elliott both replied with emojis, while Ryan Gravenberch has replied saying “+5”.

Kostas Tsimikas replied with “My Boy” with three love heart emojis, while Hugo Ekitike did similar, responding with “Mon Frere” and a singular love heart emojis.

Cody Gakpo deserved his new Liverpool contract

Ultimately, a new contract for Gakpo is both well-deserved and needed for both the player and the Reds.

In a time when Liverpool have struggled for consistency in the attack, especially with Nunez’s fluctuating form, the Dutchman has remained a consistent threat.

The Reds are entering a period of transition, with multiple new signings, including Florian Wirtz and Ekitike, and Gakpo committing his future to Anfield. This is crucial to maintaining stability in the Liverpool line-up.

With both Gakpo and Ngumoha, the future of Liverpool’s left-hand side is secure.
