Liverpool fans call out Alexander Isak hypocrisy after what Yoane Wissa just did at Brentford

Alexander Isak has been widely condemned during this transfer window.

Isak is pushing for a move to Liverpool this summer, going on strike at Newcastle United and refusing to play, seeing him miss the Magpies’ first three games of the season.

Newcastle fans were chanting about Isak after the opening game at Aston Villa, and that criticism has only got worse, with fans chanting about the Swede constantly in Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Leeds United.

Newcastle signed Nick Woltemade this week for £69million, making a move for Isak more likely, but they would also like to bring in a second striker before letting the Swede go.

Yoane Wissa has been a top target for Newcastle all summer, and he has released a statement on his future.

Yoane Wissa releases statement confirming intention to leave

Wissa has confirmed that he intends to leave Brentford this summer, having not played so far this season.

The Brentford forward’s preference is to join Newcastle and there were rumours of there being a gentleman’s agreement for the striker to leave this summer for a reasonable fee.

Wissa has stated that the promise for him to leave was put into writing, and that the Bees have reneged on that promise, reportedly upping their asking price to £60m.

The DR Congo international has again reinforced his desire to leave to the Brentford hierarchy, stating that staying beyond the deadline on Monday will only tarnish his legacy at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Liverpool fans want Newcastle fans to give Yoane Wissa the same treatment as Alexander Isak

Wissa’s statement is eerily similar to that of Isak’s after the PFA Awards two weeks ago, where he claimed promises were broken and reaffirmed his desire to leave Newcastle this summer.

Newcastle fans had no sympathy for the Swede after his statement, saying that without the promise put in writing, the six-year contract he signed is the only thing the club need to honour.

However, when Wissa released his statement, Liverpool fans have called on Newcastle fans to send the Brentford striker the same treatment.

The actions of both Isak and Wissa have been disgraceful from the outside looking in, and whilst we don’t know the full details of what has been promised as of yet, going on strike is not the answer.

Ultimately, Liverpool and Newcastle fans won’t care as long as they get their players through the door, but these sagas could have a damaging effect on contracts for many years to come.
