Liverpool can do something they’ve never achieved in top-flight history against Arsenal
Liverpool welcome Arsenal to Anfield for a crunch game in the Premier League on Sunday.
The match has been billed as a duel between the two favourites to win the Premier League title.
The Reds have an outstanding recent record at home to Arsenal. They haven’t lost to the Gunners at Anfield in the league since 2012.
Liverpool have been predicted to beat Arsenal by the supercomputer, and Arne Slot’s team certainly go into this game on form.
In fact, they have the opportunity to break an impressive goalscoring record in this match.

Liverpool can break club record for scoring goals in consecutive top flight games
If Liverpool score against Arsenal, they will set a new club record for consecutive scoring games in the top division.
The Reds have scored in their last 36 league games, which equals the record set between March 2019 and February 2020.
It’s a testament to the attacking football they have played since Slot was appointed as manager.
Liverpool have scored in 98% of their games under Slot. Perhaps unsurprisingly, that’s a higher percentage than any manager in Premier League history.

Do Liverpool really need Alexander Isak?
If Liverpool extend this record, it could lead to more questions surrounding whether the club needs to spend over £110million on Alexander Isak.
Liverpool have already had a £110m bid for Isak rejected this summer, but it’s believed they could make another late bid to sign him before the transfer window closes on 1 September.
Liverpool may need to smash the Premier League transfer record to sign him, but some fans believe the money could be better spent elsewhere.
While it’s a lot of money to spend, Slot rates Isak as one of the best strikers in Europe. He doesn’t want to rest on his laurels just because he won the Premier League last year.
It should also be remembered that Liverpool have sold:
- Luis Diaz
- Darwin Nunez
- Ben Doak
The former pair heavily contributed to Slot’s scoring record. Now they’re gone, Liverpool are arguably short of strength in depth in attack.
If Ekitike were to become unavailable, there isn’t an obvious replacement that would keep Liverpool looking as strong up front.
