Newcastle ownership make ‘ridiculous’ Alexander Isak move amid Liverpool transfer saga

Liverpool supporters are eagerly awaiting whether Alexander Isak joins from Newcastle before the upcoming transfer deadline.

The Geordies are adamant that the Swedish striker will remain at St James’ Park, but worry that his refusal to play could change their stance.

The ongoing feud with the Magpies began when Liverpool hijacked Newcastle’s move for Hugo Ekitike, and has continued to rumble on since.

Arne Slot’s 3-2 win over Newcastle has increased talk surrounding Isak’s future, and the Swede will be impressed by what he saw at St James’ Park on Monday.

Simon Jordan furious as Newcastle representatives visit Alexander Isak

Isak’s situation continues to get more confusing, with Newcastle’s hierarchy visiting the striker at his house before the loss to Liverpool.

Their trip to try and convince Isak to stay on Tyneside appears to have failed, and he will be even less convinced to stay after Rio Ngumoha’s last-minute winner against Newcastle.

Speaking live on talkSPORT on 27 August, Simon Jordan wasn’t pleased with the Newcastle hierarchy following their response to the ongoing situation.

“It’s ridiculous for the owners to go and see the player at his house,” Jordan said.

“It’s a ridiculous balance of power, you don’t go to someone’s house and tell them what you think of them, do you? You get them to come to your office. Otherwise, you get thrown out of that house.

Timeline of Alexander Isak wanting to leave:

“The balance of power in that conversation is absurd to get text messages from people at Newcastle saying we’re going to resolve it one way or the other is just giving an indication of the leadership qualities we are talking about.”

Liverpool can wait until January 2026 to sign Alexander Isak

Isak appears adamant that he will never play for Newcastle again.

Interest from Liverpool seems like it won’t go away beyond this summer, even if he doesn’t play this season.

The Geordies appear stubborn in their demands for Isak, so a deal still doesn’t seem like it will materialise before the end of the transfer window.

Therefore, it makes sense for Slot to wait until January when the 25-year-old has sunk his value for them to make a move.

The Reds still have enough attacking output to win the league this season without Isak.
