Arne Slot will be buzzing at injury news already coming out of Arsenal vs Liverpool

Liverpool will take on Arsenal next in an early Premier League title showdown.

The two sides went head-to-head for the title last season, with Liverpool comfortably winning the Premier League by 10 points in the end after Arsenal suffered a mini injury crisis.

Both games last season between them ended in 2-2 draws, with the Reds inexcusably squandering a two-goal lead in the match at Anfield, in which Trent Alexander-Arnold was booed after announcing his departure to Real Madrid.

With both sides back on level ground again, Liverpool will be looking to steal an early march on Arsenal, and news from the Gunners camp has given more encouragement of a statement result.

Bukayo Saka set to miss Liverpool clash through injury

Star winger Bukayo Saka is set to miss out on the Anfield clash due to injury.

Saka has been a thorn in Liverpool’s side in recent seasons, scoring four times in his last six league appearances against the Reds, but he has been ruled out of action for up to four weeks.

The winger was worryingly taken off during the Gunners’ 5-0 victory over Leeds United on Saturday, after injuring his hamstring.

Saka saw his campaign last season hampered by a hamstring tear that ruled him out for four months, and Mikel Arteta will be hoping his star man can recover quickly, with fixtures against Manchester City and Newcastle United coming up after the international break.

Martin Odegaard could also miss out in massive news for the Reds.

Noni Madueke could replace Bukayo Saka

With Saka out, Arsenal need to assess their options in terms of wingers ahead of the trip to Anfield.

Noni Madueke is the most likely option, having signed from Chelsea this summer, with Eberechi Eze likely to occupy the opposite flank should Odegaard be fit.

Madueke is a significant downgrade on Saka, given how little enthusiasm his signing gave the Gunners fan base, and Liverpool will be looking to pounce on their misfortunes to take home another three valuable points.
