WWE star winds up Newcastle fans with Alexander Isak Liverpool gesture
Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexander Isak has been the story of the summer.
Liverpool failed with a £110million bid earlier this month and are yet to submit a new offer for Isak.
Isak has made it clear that he wants to join Liverpool, refusing to play and releasing a statement citing broken promises.
The pursuit has caused controversy, but BeIN Sports presenter Andy Gray has been a surprising voice of reason.

WWE Star adds fuel to the Alexander Isak fire
Liverpool have many famous supporters, such as WWE wrestler Sheamus and singer Lana Del Rey.
WWE superstar and Liverpool supporter JD McDonagh was coincidentally performing in Newcastle on 24 August, ahead of the Monday Night Football showdown.
In a match at the show, he revealed a Reds shirt with “Isak 9″ on the back and later posted footage on X with the message “free Isak”.
Will Liverpool secure Alexander Isak’s signature?
It seems unlikely at the moment.
Newcastle are resolute in their stance that he will stay, and they have failed to bring in a replacement, which complicates proceedings.
They have failed to sign the likes of Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Benjamin Sesko and Hugo Ekitike, which may have facilitated an Isak sale.
With a week left in the transfer window, it would take a huge change to ensure Isak moves to Anfield.
- July 24: Isak misses Newcastle tour of Asia with a thigh injury
- August 1: Liverpool have £110m bid rejected
- August 9: Howe admits he has no control over Isak situation
- August 12: Isak adamant he won’t play for Newcastle again
- August 19: Isak releases a statement accusing Newcastle of broken promises
- August 19: Newcastle respond, deny agreement to sell Isak
For starters, the Magpies would have to sign a replacement and probably a back-up striker, which is a difficult task so late in the window.
Then the Reds would have to submit a bid that meets Eddie Howe’s side’s £150m valuation.
Things may change after the teams play each other on 25 August, but it seems like a hard transfer to pull off right now for Richard Hughes and Co.
They may have to wait until the winter window to get their man, and Isak may have to reintegrate at St James’ Park despite the chaos that he has caused.
