Alexander Isak mooted to complete transfer on Wednesday as Liverpool add 30 extra goals
Liverpool have one week to agree a deal to sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.
It’s no secret that Arne Slot is an admirer of the Swedish striker. Liverpool had a bid for Isak rejected earlier this summer, and he has seemingly been doing all that he can to try and escape Newcastle since then.
The transfer window closes on 1 September, meaning that Isak is getting closer to the prospect of remaining at Newcastle until January at least.
However, a deal could be done this week after Liverpool take on Newcastle in the Premier League on Monday night.

Troy Deeney predicts Alexander Isak transfer could be completed in days
Liverpool travel to St. James’ Park on Monday, and the Isak transfer saga has added some extra spice to the fixture.
Isak won’t be playing for either side in this game, but Newcastle’s players have admitted that the drama surrounding his transfer has made them more tight-knit.
Previewing the game on talkSPORT, Troy Deeney suggested that the transfer could be completely once this fixture is out of the way.
He said: “There’s the news that’s circulating that it’s going to be Wednesday or Thursday this week that they agree on something.
“I think it has to. I think you’ve got to look at what Eddie said after the Aston Villa game. It’s causing a distraction. Every interview he does is about Isak.”
Deeney also predicted that Isak would score 30 league goals in a Liverpool shirt if the transfer is completed, suggesting that his signing would be the catalyst to push them toward another Premier League title.
Why isn’t Alexander Isak playing against Liverpool?
Isak might be fit enough to feature in the match against Liverpool, but he won’t be picked by Newcastle until this public conflict is solved.
The Swedish international has publicly declared that “promises were broken” by the club, and his relationship with Newcastle has deteriorated.
Following this fallout, he has been training alone and formally excluded from the first-team squad.

Eddie Howe has made that decision for the good of squad morale. Perhaps he holds hope that the situation will eventually be resolved, and that Isak can continue banging in goals for Newcastle, although that looks like a long shot at this point.
In the meantime, he’ll be happy if his players can use the Isak transfer drama as motivation to perform to their best in the Premier League without Isak.
Liverpool’s games against Newcastle are often barnstormers at the best of times. Arne Slot’s team will need to prepare for a fired-up crowd and opponents on Monday evening.
