How the French media rated former Liverpool man Tyler Morton’s display for Lyon
Tyler Morton has begun settling into life away from Liverpool.
Morton left Anfield to join Lyon in a £15million deal this summer, as he looks to ignite his career after receiving limited minutes with the Reds.
The 22-year-old is one of several players to depart this summer, with Liverpool notably selling Luis Diaz for £65.5m and Darwin Nunez for £46m.
The midfielder’s sale was perfect for all parties, as the Reds have been able to balance the books after spending big on Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, along with others.
Morton made his competitive home debut for his new side on Saturday, and the media in france have given their verdict.

Tyler Morton delivers ‘promising’ performance on home debut
Lyon defeated Metz 3-0 to continue their perfect start to the season.
Malick Fofana, who is linked with a move to Liverpool, opened the scoring in the first half, before goals from Corentin Tolisso and Adam Karabec completed a brilliant evening for the French giants.
Morton played the full 90 minutes at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, his second full match in a row, and the French media were loving what they saw from the former Hull midfielder.
Maxifoot gave Morton an 8/10 rating, saying: “The midfielder arrived from Liverpool, confirmed his metronome profile.
“Just technically, he is at the origin of several good game reversals and signs the light pass that brings the second goal.
“His long-distance strike in the second half would have deserved a better fate. Very serious.”
Made in Gones also gave Morton an 8/10, saying: “Transferred from Liverpool this summer, Tyler Morton is one of the great satisfactions of the Lyon transfer window.
“The Lyon midfielder showed a disconcerting technical ease ball to the foot and was decisive on the three goals of OL.
“A very promising new performance for the English international hope, who has perfectly integrated into the Lyon team since his arrival.”

Liverpool may have made a mistake letting Tyler Morton go permanently
Liverpool’s squad depth has been depleted by the moves they have made this summer, with the attack looking thin for the side.
However, the midfield has been overlooked in these discussions, and Morton could have been a great backup option to Ryan Gravenberch this season.

Liverpool will be hoping his departure won’t come back to bite them.
