Liverpool and Nottingham Forest fans messed around more than any others as new figures emerge
Liverpool are aiming to defend their Premier League title, but while fans will enjoy proceedings on the pitch, they will be frustrated about one development.
Arne Slot’s side began the campaign with an entertaining Friday night match as Liverpool beat Bournemouth 4-2, but face difficult games against Newcastle and Arsenal in August.
Liverpool strolled to the Premier League title last season but this year is set to be a bigger challenge, and several high-profile new signings will need to settle quickly.
The scheduling of matches has been a contentious issue for some time, and it has now emerged that Liverpool fans have been treated worse than any other fanbase in one regard.

Liverpool top Premier League for televised fixtures
Everyone wants to watch the champions, and Liverpool’s opening game with Bournemouth at Anfield was selected for Sky TV coverage.
Most of Liverpool’s games have been selected for broadcast coverage, which moves their games away from the Saturday 3pm kick-off slot, the ideal time for matchgoing fans.
Opposition | Kick-off time | Broadcaster |
Newcastle | Monday 8pm | Sky Sports |
Arsenal | Sunday 4.30pm | Sky Sports |
Burnley | Sunday 2pm | Sky Sports |
Everton | Saturday 12.30 | TNT Sports |
Crystal Palace | Saturday 3pm | None |
Chelsea | Saturday 5.30pm | Sky Sports |
Man United | Sunday 4.30pm | Sky Sports |
Brentford | Saturday 12.30pm | TNT Sports |
Instead, Liverpool fans will have to attend at unsociable times, with the upcoming trip to Newcastle taking place on a Monday night, in a logistical disaster when it comes to travel.
It has now emerged that following the TV fixtures until October being confirmed, Liverpool will have had eight of their opening nine league games televised, level with Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool fans ignored as TV selections made
Liverpool will have some far from ideal kick-off times for their away trips in their matches until October, with fans ignored again by the TV companies selecting their matches for broadcast.
Their trip to Brentford at the end of the month will take place at 12.30 on a Saturday, meaning there is a brutally early start in store for fans travelling down to London from Merseyside.
Jurgen Klopp was famously outspoken against this kick-off time, and he would have been fuming with this selection as the game will be televised on TNT Sports, as was the Community Shield.
“I was actually waiting for Amnesty International to go to them. I would like to be part of that meeting when someone says ‘Liverpool 12:30’ and the whole room is bursting into laughter,” he stated in May 2024.
“I had a discussion only the other day with colleagues from our favourite TV channel which I will definitely not watch again, TNT,” he added as a firing shot to the broadcaster.
Liverpool’s trip to Crystal Palace is the only game at 3pm on a Saturday in this upcoming run, and fans at Anfield have no fixtures scheduled for this kick-off time.
