Arne Slot cannot ignore Jayden Danns as sensational new Liverpool footage emerges
Jayden Danns is one of Liverpool’s most promising academy talents.
Danns has impressed whenever he has been called up to the first team, with three goals in nine senior appearances.
He looked set to leave Liverpool to get regular football on loan at Sunderland last season, but a stress fracture in his back curtailed that move.
He faces a difficult task to force his way into Arne Slot‘s plans, with Hugo Ekitike’s arrival on Merseyside and Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexander Isak.
Danns on the scoresheet in Liverpool loss
Liverpool Under-21s are now managed by Rob Page, the former Wales boss, and they started their campaign with a 4-2 loss to Leicester.
However, there was one huge positive as Danns got himself on the scoresheet with a truly sensational effort.
Footage released by the Reds shows Danns receiving the ball on the edge of the box, playing it to Michael Laffey and then smashing it home when he got it back.
How can Danns work his way into Liverpool plans?
It will not be easy for the 19-year-old to impress Slot, especially if Isak arrives in L4 before the transfer window closes.
However, he will have to keep scoring in the youth ranks for now and show that he can stay fit, and maybe he will eventually be given a chance.
He has already proven that he can handle the step up in class on the odd occasion, but performing at the elite level regularly is a different matter entirely.
He has the attributes to be able to do so; whether he has the mentality and physicality to stay with the Reds, remains to be seen, though.
Strengths:
- Finishing and composure: Danns has proven that he can put the ball in the back of the net at any level
- Technical ability: Strong agility and balance mean that he is a great dribbler who can take on defenders
- Confidence: He is fearless and willing to take risks, which tends to bode well at the senior level
Weaknesses:
- Limited senior experience: Played a total of nine matches at the top level
- Injury concerns: Suffered several issues already that could hamper his rise to stardom
It will be an interesting season for Danns, and there is no doubt that if he continues to score wonder goals like that, he will be on Slot’s radar sooner rather than later.
