Crystal Palace may have just dropped biggest hint yet of Marc Guehi to Liverpool transfer

Liverpool are still interested in signing Marc Guehi before the transfer window closes.

The Reds have enjoyed a momentous spending spree this summer, but Arne Slot still wants an extra defender in his Liverpool squad.

The centre-back has emerged as the main target, and fans are speculating that Guehi wants to move from Crystal Palace this summer as well.

Many pundits have praised Guehi’s performances for England and Crystal Palace for years, and a move to Anfield would seem like the perfect next step up.

Marc Guehi’s absence from Crystal Palace media duties sparks more Liverpool rumours

Liverpool still have plenty of money to spend, and it’s widely believed they’ll get their man.

These transfer rumours have heightened now that Guehi was absent from the launch of Crystal Palace’s third kit on Tuesday.

Most Premier League clubs recruit their most popular players to be photographed in a new kit when it was launched, but both Guehi and Eberechi Eze were noticeably absent from this launch.

Eze is closing in on a move to Tottenham, while Liverpool are the clear favourites Guehi this summer.

Arne Slot may need to make assurances to sign Marc Guehi this summer

Guehi is a talented defender who wouldn’t look out of place in Liverpool’s Premier League-winning squad.

He has shown that with consistent performances for Crystal Palace and England over the last couple of years.

Most Liverpool fans would have no problem with him being identified as a long-term successor to Virgil Van Dijk at the heart of Liverpool’s defence.

However, Arne Slot may need to make some assurances to Guehi if he is going to land him this summer.

The 2026 World Cup is around the corner, and Guehi will surely have strong ambitions of starting for England in that tournament.

He can’t afford to risk playing second fiddle to Virgil Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate for most of the season. That could easily cost him his starting place in the England team as well.

As such, you’d imagine that Slot would have to share ambitions of Guehi being a regular starter for him to join this summer.

It will be interesting to see if that’s what happens.
