What Liverpool still need to do before transfer window shuts after Bournemouth win
Liverpool battled hard to record a 4-2 victory over Bournemouth on the opening day of the Premier League season, and still have business to do in the transfer window.
Antoine Semenyo pulled two goals back and gave the Reds a scare at Anfield, but Liverpool ultimately secured victory to kick off their Premier League title defence.
It was not a convincing performance from Arne Slot’s side, with Slot criticised by Jamie Carragher after the game for his tactics which saw Liverpool lose their comfortable lead.
Liverpool have spent heavily in the summer transfer window, but there is still more work to be done before the transfer deadline on September 1.

Alexander Isak deal needs to be completed
Liverpool are still in pursuit of Alexander Isak, with the striker refusing to play for Newcastle to force through a move to Anfield.
His situation at Newcastle is reaching the point of no return, and all signs point towards Liverpool completing a deal.
- Isak missed Newcastle’s opening day draw with Aston Villa, and is not training with Eddie Howe’s squad.
- The Sweden star scored 23 goals in 34 Premier League games last season.
The transfer may end up taking place closer to the deadline, with Liverpool and Newcastle yet to agree a fee for the 25-year-old.
Liverpool must sign Marc Guehi
Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi appears close to a move to Liverpool, but this is a deal which must be tied up before the end of the window.
Ibrahima Konate was criticised for his performance against Bournemouth, and adding Guehi will strengthen the quality and depth of the back line.
Guehi has one year remaining on his deal at Palace, and may be available for a cut-price fee, but Liverpool will hope to get this transfer completed quickly.

Konate future needs to be resolved
Konate’s performance against Bournemouth was heavily scrutinised in the days that followed, and there may be an unpleasant situation developing.
The defender is in the final year of his contract, and Konate could follow Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid.
Liverpool must aim to resolve Konate’s future in this transfer window, and if there is no indication that he will extend his deal, a sale before the deadline cannot be ruled out.
