Liverpool vs Bournemouth injury and suspension update: Gravenberch one of five definitely out

Ryan Gravenberch is one of five players who will be absent from both sides combined when Liverpool host Bournemouth in the first game of the Premier League season.

The champions kick off the very first match of the 2025/26 season as they strive to retain their title.

Liverpool are expected to beat Bournemouth, who have lost several key players ahead of the new campaign.

However, both sides will have to make do without some key players as the Cherries travel to Merseyside.

Gravenberch out for Liverpool, Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley doubts

Gravenberch was nominated for Liverpool’s Player of the Season award alongside Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

However, Gravenberch is unavailable to face the Cherries due to suspension after picking up a red card against Crystal Palace in the final game of the 2024/25 season.

Elsewhere, Gomez faces a late fitness test, but could be named on Arne Slot’s bench for the encounter.

The defender left Liverpool’s pre-season tour of Asia with an Achilles injury, and Slot must decide on him.

Bradley is a major doubt for the clash and is currently being assessed for a minor injury he sustained during the summer.

Andoni Iraola without a host of Bournemouth players

Bournemouth have lost Kerkez as well as several other key defenders ahead of the Premier League season.

The Cherries performed admirably last term, but have been the victims of their own success, with Dean Huijsen and Illia Zabarnyi both sold.

Iraola will be without Justin Kluivert, Enes Unal, Lewis Cook and Ryan Christie, who have all been ruled out with injury.

New signing Bafode Diakite faces a late fitness test, having only just signed from Lille for a reported £34million.

Dango Ouattara and Luis Sinisterra are set to leave the South Coast this summer. Ouattara is on the verge of joining Brentford, while Sinisterra is unlikely to travel as he is close to joining Cruzeiro on loan.

Liverpool will be expected to begin their title defence with a statement win, while all eyes will be on new signings Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, and Jeremie Frimpong.

Retaining the Premier League is an unlikely task, but many are tipping the Reds to do just that.
