Mo Salah finally breaks silence on Darwin Nunez’s Liverpool exit with heartfelt message
A curtain was drawn on Darwin Nunez’s Liverpool career last week, and Mohamed Salah has finally reacted to his exit.
Nunez joined Al-Hilal in a big-money transfer after struggling for goalscoring consistency during his time at Liverpool.
The 26-year-old plundered just 40 goals in 143 appearances for the Reds, and ultimately failed to live up to his £64million price tag after joining the club in 2022.
The Uruguayan striker hopes a mega-money move to Saudi Arabia can rekindle his scoring touch, while a transfer for Alexander Isak remains possible before the end of the window.

Mohamed Salah sends heartfelt message to Darwin Nunez
While it’s unfortunate that Nunez’s career on Merseyside didn’t work out as planned, the former Benfica sharpshooter gained huge respect from his teammates.
Liverpool thanked Nunez for his efforts during his three-year stay, honouring the centre-forward for producing some clutch moments, most notably his brace against Newcastle United in 2024.
Mohamed Salah was also appreciative of the South American’s talents and took to X on Wednesday evening to send a heartfelt message his way.
I consider myself lucky to have had you as a teammate and friend. You were always very real and brought so much good energy wherever you went.

The Egyptian praised the energy he brought to the dressing room, showcasing his importance off the pitch as well as on it.
In total, Salah shared the pitch with Nunez on 122 occasions and the pair combined for 18 goals, forming a solid partnership.

What Nunez said after leaving Liverpool
It’s becoming increasingly common for younger players to make the move to Saudi Arabia, with Ruben Neves being the prime example after joining Al-Hilal at the age of 26 in 2023.
Nunez, who is also 26, has decided to exit Europe and the chance to play at the highest level to set his family up for generations.
After his exit was confirmed, Nunez wrote on Instagram: “Three years on, it’s time to say goodbye. I’ll take with me countless memories that will live with me forever.
“I leave with a full heart, thanks to the love of a crowd that never let me down and always had my back – through the highs and through the lows.
“Liverpool will always be part of who I am. I’ll miss you more than words can say. To all the staff and my teammates – thank you and all the very best for the future.”
