Liverpool accused of major hypocrisy as Alexander Isak saga takes unexpected twist

Alexander Isak is trying to force his way to Liverpool by refusing to play for Newcastle United.

Liverpool have been chasing the Swedish forward all summer, and even players like Virgil Van Dijk are now talking about this transfer.

Liverpool have had a bid for Isak rejected, which has seemingly convinced the 25-year-old to take matters into his own hands.

Isak has been criticised for his unprofessional behaviour, but Liverpool are still expected to make an improved bid for him in the coming days.

Stefan Borson takes dig at Liverpool amid Isak transfer saga

Football finance expert Stefan Borson has debated the ethics of Liverpool signing Isak after his latest stunt.

Posting on X on Tuesday, he said he questioned whether Liverpool would walk away from a player who was prepared to “disrespect football fans” in this way.

This tongue-in-cheek post is seemingly a callback to what Liverpool fans said about Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was accused of ‘disrespecting’ them in the way that he sought a transfer to Real Madrid.

Borson is a Manchester City fan and has taken many playful jabs at Liverpool fans on social media before.

Liverpool will be unfazed by Isak transfer drama as long as they get their man

The Isak transfer saga has spiralled into an unsightly mess, tarnishing the striker’s reputation among some fans.

Isak has acted unprofessionally to try to force a move to Anfield and has been rightfully criticised.

Still, it won’t matter at all to Liverpool if they get their man.

The Reds remain relentless in their pursuit of the Newcastle striker. His talent is seemingly being deemed worth the chaos.

If he signs the contract and delivers the goods in a Liverpool shirt, people will soon forget about the drama that led to his transfer.

That’s the nature of modern football. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has claimed he has no say with regards to Isak remaining at his club. It seems the best Newcastle can do is try to milk Liverpool for every penny to complete the transfer.
