Alexander Isak ‘should be ashamed’ after ‘disgraceful’ new Liverpool update

Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexander Isak could finally be about to enter the concluding stages.

Isak was the subject of a £110million bid from Liverpool that was rejected by the Magpies earlier in the transfer window.

However, the saga has continued with Eddie Howe admitting that he has no control over whether the Swedish star ends up at Anfield or not.

The Reds have Hugo Ekitike as their only option in the number nine role right now, but that could change rapidly after new developments.

Liverpool News brings you the exclusive opinion of iconic football commentator Ian Darke.

Isak set for Liverpool move after latest Newcastle developments

Isak has turned up the pressure on Howe and Co by refusing to play for the St James’ Park outfit again and outlined his desire to move to Liverpool.

Darke believes that the way that Isak has acted is a shambles, but understands where he is coming from as a footballer.

Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, he said: “He should be ashamed of himself in my opinion, I think what he is doing is absolutely disgraceful.

“Newcastle United employed him and have gone a long way to making his name as a top European striker, okay, he was pretty good before at Real Sociedad.

“It is no way for a professional footballer to be conducting himself; however, it will probably end up, because Liverpool are becoming almost the only game in town here now.

“He wasn’t that dissatisfied at Newcastle, although there were rumblings about him not getting the kind of contract he wanted last summer.

“He wasn’t really discontent until he knew that Liverpool were interested, that has clearly unsettled him and turned his head, and he wants to play for the champions with a fair chance of winning the Champions League as well.

“I understand the emotion of that as a player, but I don’t think this is any way for him to be conducting himself. I think he and his agent should hang their heads in shame.”

Isak saga surely ends with Liverpool move now

Surely there is only one possible resolution to the saga now.

By taking the stance that he has, surely Isak has to have had encouragement that the Reds will make another bid that will be nearer the Magpies’ valuation.

If not, why would he attempt to force a move through that is not going to happen? That would not make much sense.
