Milos Kerkez could experience something for first time vs Bournemouth

Liverpool signed Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth earlier this summer, and he will face his old side in his first league game for his new club.

Kerkez started as Liverpool lost the Community Shield, but he will keep his place at left-back against his former teammates to open the Premier League season.

Bournemouth will travel to Anfield to face the Champions on Friday night, and this will see several players make their league debuts for Liverpool.

Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike will make their debuts in the competition, but Kerkez will still be aiming to do something he’s never managed before.

Kerkez aiming for first Anfield win against Bournemouth

Kerkez has already played at Anfield twice in the Premier League, but was on the losing side on both occasions.

This means that the upcoming game against Bournemouth will be his chance to be on the winning team at Anfield for the first time in his career in a competitive match.

He has so far tasted two defeats, with his side scoring just once in that time. In each of the last two seasons, Bournemouth have travelled to Anfield in the first few weeks of the season, and Liverpool came out victorious on both occasions.

Kerkez played the entire 90 minutes in both games, as Bournemouth fell to 3-0 and 3-1 defeats, but he will now hope that this trend of results between the clubs continues as he aims to be on the winning side.

Kerkez can realise Anfield dream in Bournemouth clash

Liverpool were in pursuit of Kerkez for some time before they finally secured the Hungarian’s signature, and it is hoped that he will be the main left-back for years to come.

Speaking to Liverpool club media shortly after his signing on June 26, Kerkez claimed that he had a long-term admiration for Anfield, and dreamed of winning there.

“Even before I flew here, my brothers put on [the] TV Anfield and before the games and how the fans are and everything. Everyone in my family, I can say in my hometown, can’t wait for me to step into Anfield,” he stated.

“I’m going to give everything – absolutely everything – to win trophies with the club and to hopefully score some goals at Anfield. I can’t wait to hear the roar.”

The 21-year-old will be very familiar with his old teammates, with the defender likely to come up against Antoine Semenyo, and will hope to thwart them to secure victory to get his Liverpool career off to a good start.
