Liverpool fans will be delighted about what’s been claimed about Marc Guehi
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi this summer.
The Reds are in desperate need of reinforcement at the back, with Joe Gomez’s injury and Jarell Quansah’s departure leaving just two senior central defenders at Arne Slot’s disposal.
Liverpool are currently plotting a move for Alexander Isak, who has told Newcastle United that he wants to leave this summer.
The Swede would push transfer expenditure at Anfield well over £300million, with the big-money sales of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez helping to balance the books.

Steve Parish speaks out on Guehi future
Guehi enjoyed a superb season for Palace last season, appearing in 44 games for the Eagles and lifting the FA Cup at the end of the season.
The 25-year-old is a regular for England and would not be willing to join a new club this summer just to sit on the bench.
Whilst Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are established regulars for Liverpool, Guehi would be expected to compete for his place.

The defender is into the last year of his contract at Selhurst Park, and Palace have, so far, stood strongly behind their £45m price tag.
Chairman Steve Parish (11 August) has suggested that the stance could soften before the end of the window, however.
He said: “For players of that calibre to leave on a free, it’s a problem. We had one bid last summer but Joachim Andersen went to Fulham and we couldn’t afford to lose both of them.
“We then had another bid in January but that was a difficult situation, and the player had a point of view on that one.
“So we just have to see what happens but it needs a new contract or a conclusion of some kind.”
Parish admission suggests Guehi price could reduce
Palace’s stance towards the sale of Guehi is understandable. The defender is key for the Eagles, and as a 25-year-old England international, should hold significant value in the market.
But Parish’s comments suggest that the reality of the situation is starting to tighten.
Should Palace refuse to sell Guehi this summer, they will, in all likelihood, lose the player on a free transfer next summer.

One final season with the defender available may soften that blow, but a fee, still likely to be in the region of £30m, would bring many more positives.
Palace have signed just two players this summer, spending around £3m amid the uncertainty surrounding their Europa League appeal.
The money received for Guehi would work to make those financial problems go away, allowing the Eagles to bolster their squad in the final weeks of the window.
Liverpool will hope such suspicions come to fruition, with a defender still required at Anfield.
