Virgil van Dijk issues ‘go get Alexander Isak plea’ to media straight after Liverpool loss
Virgil van Dijk seems to have called on Liverpool to sign Alexander Isak.
The Reds continue to be linked with Isak after a £110million bid was rejected by Newcastle last month.
Arne Slot’s side needs attacking reinforcements as Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez have moved on this summer.
Now, the captain has urged Fenway Sports Group to make sure that they are not left short in their Premier League defence.

Van Dijk issues Isak demand to Liverpool
The need for additional firepower was clear in Liverpool’s penalty shootout defeat to Crystal Palace in the Community Shield.
After the contest (10 August), Van Dijk spoke to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, who revealed that the skipper had said the Reds need a new forward.
Crook believes that it was “go get Isak plea” to the ownership after the narrow defeat at Wembley.
Isak would take Liverpool to the next level
Isak is the perfect signing for the Anfield outfit after their previous business.
They have already firmed up the full-back positions with Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong, while Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike have come into the attacking positions.
The Newcastle hitman would be the cherry on top of a brilliant transfer window for the champions and would take them to another level.
Isak is the most lethal striker in world football, notching 23 goals and six assists in the top-flight last season and those numbers would likely increase on Merseyside.
- Isak has had three seasons in the Premier League, with 54 goals and 10 assists in the division
Playing alongside the likes of Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah should give Isak more opportunities to put the ball in the back of the net.
Liverpool are reportedly waiting for the Magpies to indicate that they are willing to sell, but after Van Dijk’s plea, they may be forced to act.
Last season’s Carabao Cup winners will drive a hard bargain, but the Swedish international would be worth every penny as he would make Slot’s side the favourites to retain their crown and possibly for the Champions League too.
They still have a lot of wiggle room when it comes to Profit and Sustainability rules, so they could afford to spend a huge sum on Isak.
