Liverpool ‘to accelerate Ibrahima Konate exit’ after major Marc Guehi update
Ibrahima Konate could be moved on by Liverpool this summer.
Arne Slot will be more than pleased with the transfer business done by the Reds this summer, though he will be well aware of the need for more before the 1 September deadline.
While most of that will involve incomings, amid ongoing links to Alexander Isak, several exits will have to happen for those moves to go through.
One of those could involve Konate, who has just one year left on his contract at Anfield.

Could Liverpool sign Marc Guehi as Konate’s replacement?
Liverpool have made no secret of their desire to land the signing of Marc Guehi this summer, and according to the Telegraph, they are now the favourites to do so.
The Reds will not want to lose Konate on a free, which is a real possibility given his contract situation, and his sale this summer could all but fund a move for Guehi.
- Joined Liverpool in 2021
- 132 appearances in all competitions
- Can negotiate a free transfer abroad in January
Of course, Slot’s side still need to replace Jarell Quansah after his move to Leverkusen, meaning that two centre-backs could arrive in Merseyside in the coming weeks.
Guehi would arguably be an upgrade on the Frenchman, and would be yet another statement addition to the Reds, who will be looking to reclaim their title as Premier League champions.

Slot needs to see more movement
Liverpool are just one or two injuries away from having to utilise Rhys Williams in their starting 11, showcasing the lack of depth in that position.
With the Premier League campaign just a week away, that needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency, and Guehi is right there for the taking.
Several other defenders have also been linked with a move to Anfield, showcasing that they aren’t throwing all of their eggs into one basket in what can only be a positive heading into the final few weeks of the window.
