Liverpool know what to do after Alexander Isak update from Newcastle insiders
Liverpool headlines concerning Alexander Isak could explode in the coming days after a recent update.
It is well documented that Liverpool are interested in signing Isak this summer. However, the road to success has been more than a little bumpy.
At first, Newcastle had little interest in selling their prized forward. However, the Swede’s desire to depart has forced them to reconsider. But without a suitable backup, the striker’s path to Anfield became more difficult to find.
But there is still hope of his arrival, and Liverpool may have been handed the ultimate key.

Liverpool must submit a second bid for Isak
It was believed Liverpool had given up their pursuit when Newcastle rejected a £110million bid from the Reds last week.
The Magpies drive a hard bargain, and it was doubted whether the Reds had the patience to compete. However, it has since emerged that Liverpool could be given the green light to sign the forward.
Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
2024/25 | 42 | 27 | 6 |
Despite this, the Merseyside club may need to ramp up their efforts to guarantee his arrival. As reported by Chronicle Live on Saturday (9 August), Newcastle insiders fear that Isak has kicked his last ball for the club.
There was an attempt to clear the air between Isak and the Magpies behind the scenes. However, the Swede’s head has now been completely turned.
But to make matters worse, the Reds have yet to submit a second offer. With Isak and Newcastle at a crossroads and the striker determined to play for Liverpool, the club must submit a second bid.
The Magpies are still actively pursuing replacement options for the forward, which indicates they are prepared to let him leave. As such, Liverpool now know what to do to take advantage of the volatile situation.

Liverpool have an alternative Isak option
While not a direct alternative, Liverpool can sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola this summer.
The Parisian club are not keen on a sale. However, a fee of over £100m and the player’s desire to leave could be enough to sway them.
Barcola was instrumental during PSG’s historic UEFA Champions League campaign last season. Not to mention, he is considered the future face of French football alongside teammate Desire Doue and Liverpool centre-forward Hugo Ekitike.
- Barcola won the quadruple with PSG last season and could still win the UEFA Super Cup
- The Frenchman scored 21 goals and provided 21 assists during the 2024/25 season
- His pace, technical skill and acceleration would help him terrorise defenders in the Premier League
Therefore, if Isak does not arrive at Anfield this summer, the money cast aside for him will be best spent on Barcola.
