Liverpool’s Premier League title chances predicted by supercomputer

Liverpool are looking to defend their Premier League title in the 2025/26 campaign.

Arne Slot was expected to struggle after replacing Jurgen Klopp, but that was not the case in his maiden season at Anfield.

The Dutchman exceeded all expectations, with his side forging a 10-point margin over Arsenal and taking the top-flight by storm.

However, whether they can retain it, that is an entirely different question.

Liverpool title chances predicted by supercomputer

The Reds have added the likes of Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike in their attempts to keep hold of their crown.

That business is set to pay off, as the champions are the favourites for the title in the new season, according to the Opta supercomputer.

The outlet simulated the campaign 10,000 times and Slot’s side came out on top of the pile with an average of 73.2 points, pipping the Gunners and Manchester City.

Slot still needs additions if Liverpool are to retain the title

Slot and Co will not be putting too much of their hopes on the predictions of a supercomputer.

The Dutch head coach and his staff will be much more focused on actual happenings on the pitch than what a computer model says about their chances of holding off their rivals, who are set to come back stronger.

The L4 outfit enjoyed a positive pre-season, but the real litmus test of where they are at will be the Community Shield against Crystal Palace (10 August).

The Reds still need additions, as they are very light in the striker and centre-back positions.

They are trying to bring Newcastle forward Alexander Isak to the club before the transfer deadline, which would be a game-changing move.

However, centre-back is arguably more important, with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate the only senior ones available to Slot right now, as Joe Gomez is injured.

The likes of Wataru Endo and Luca Stephenson have played there during the preparations for the new season, but a more experienced option is necessary.

If they can sort both, then Fenway Sports Group will have put Slot in a brilliant position to fulfil the supercomputer’s prediction.
