Newcastle dealt yet another transfer blow as ex-Liverpool ace set for medical

Liverpool have already caused Newcastle a lot of upset this summer.

Arne Slot’s side hijacked the Geordies’ bid to sign Hugo Ekitike, with the Frenchman electing to join the Reds instead.

Alexander Isak’s potential arrival at Anfield has been a saga that has attracted the attention of football supporters worldwide, and interest in the Swede doesn’t look to be letting off.

With Liverpool a constant pain for Eddie Howe’s side this summer, a former Anfield ace has now dealt yet another blow to Newcastle.

Bobby Clark snubs Newcastle

Liverpool’s pursuit of Newcastle players started well before this summer.

In 2021, the Reds signed youngster Clark from Newcastle, with the hopes that he would go on to do big things on Merseyside.

The 20-year-old ultimately grew frustrated with his lack of playing time at Anfield and joined up with ex-Liverpool coach Pepijn Lijnders at Red Bull Salzburg.

Neither Lijnders nor Clark succeeded in Austria, with the former being sacked after just four months in charge.

With the England Under-20 international struggling, he was reportedly offered to Newcastle [Chronicle Live].

However, according to Pete O’Rourke on X (5 August), Clark is having a medical at Derby County ahead of a season-long loan move.

The move is yet another blow to the Geordies, as despite the winger not being good enough to play in their first team, Clark is expected to excel in seasons to come.

It would’ve also been an opportunity for Newcastle to get one back over their rivals and get their hands on a prospect.

Liverpool to give Newcastle more worry with Isak transfer

Liverpool look happy to continue to push Newcastle’s buttons in the coming weeks, in an attempt to sign Isak.

The Geordies are looking at RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, with the Anfield faithful hoping he is a potential replacement for their Swedish striker.

The Red Bull group could continue to grow their relationship with Liverpool should they continue to play hardball after already electing to send Clark elsewhere instead of the North East.
