Liverpool to free up more Isak funds as Nunez exit update drops

Liverpool could potentially be one step closer to signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle United after selling Darwin Nunez.

The Sweden international wants to leave St James’ Park, and the Reds are seen as favourites for his signature.

Nunez’s future at Anfield is uncertain, but a solution may be found soon for the 26-year-old’s sale at the Merseyside outfit.

AC Milan make Nunez number one transfer target

AC Milan are interested in signing Nunez from Liverpool this summer.

That is according to Sky Sport Italia (2 August), who report that the Serie A outfit have opened talks with the Uruguay international, but negotiations with the striker at Anfield remain complicated.

It’s been claimed that the 26-year-old is a priority for the Italian club, who look to give Massimiliano Allegri a new centre-forward in the coming weeks.

Isak’s transfer to Liverpool is alive despite initial concerns after Newcastle rejected their opening £110million bid.

The 25-year-old’s arrival in Merseyside could potentially be game-changing for them, and they may be viewed as favourites for the Premier League and Champions League.

Nunez’s departure will arguably free up more funds for the Reds to make an improved bid for the Swedish striker in the coming days, and the situation will be one to keep an eye on.

Who will start up front for Liverpool after Isak transfer?

Arne Slot could use Hugo Ekitike on the left side of the attack after Isak is signed at Liverpool.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt forward’s versatility was one of the reasons the Dutch manager wanted him at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah has made the right wing his own, and he will certainly play a key role for the Reds in the upcoming campaign.

Isak’s record at Newcastle last season.

Isak has been one of the most prolific number nines in the Premier League in recent seasons, and it would be a no-brainer for Liverpool to start him up front.

Slot can also decide to play two strikers in his starting lineup in the upcoming campaign, and the Reds’ tactical approach will be interesting to see.
