Liverpool look to close gap on Man City after £1bn developments
Liverpool set themselves apart from the Premier League last season after an uncontested title win.
This summer, the Reds have continued to stamp their dominance by signing Florian Wirtz for £116million.
Hugo Ekitike also arrived at Anfield for a substantial fee, while Alexander Isak is of interest for north of £110million.
However, the Merseyside club are still short of Man City off the pitch, although they are striving to close that gap.

This story includes exclusive opinion from football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley.
Man City strike £1billion Puma deal
Liverpool surpassed Man United in terms of their revenue for 2023/24, with Man City still out ahead.
City recently announced a ten-year deal with Puma worth around £1billion, and football finance expert Dan Plumley – speaking exclusively to Liverpool News – provided insight on the kit partnership.
“The £1billion is effectively £100million per year from what we’ve seen, and that would absolutely put City above,” he said.
“Their own deal, of course, which was pretty good, but also above the ones that we see at the very top of that, so you tend to find that those deals have hovered recently in and around sort of £60million-ish for Premier League clubs.
“Real Madrid’s is slightly higher; they pushed the envelope a little bit, but that deal for City is, whichever way you put it, a really, really good one in terms of overall value.
“And Liverpool, on the other side of that, having just re-signed a very good deal, don’t get me wrong, but you’re looking for growth there in the future as well.
“Of course, success on the pitch always helps, so it doesn’t put them too far behind, and Liverpool’s revenue is still growing.
“There are lots of other things that factor into commercial revenue and what generates money for the football club, but now I think we’ve probably got a new marker, and that’s what happens.
“You get a new marker put down by one club and then everyone else tries to match it, so that’s what Liverpool will be looking to do in the future.”

Liverpool on course to close financial gap
The Reds have surprised many with their astonishing transfer spend this summer, and they do not appear to be done yet.
Of course, performances on the pitch are crucial to boosting global appeal, and Slot’s side are on course to do just that.
Liverpool, as a city, also has global appeal, and that can be a key selling point for the Merseyside outfit.
While City may have announced a £1billion partnership, it should not be long before the Reds are matching them.
