Leeds United set to copy what Liverpool do at Anfield this season – here’s why

Liverpool’s preparations for next season are ramping up.

The Reds have had 3-1 wins over Preston and Japanese side Marinos, before losing 4-2 to AC Milan.

Arne Slot’s side have also been very busy off the pitch, signing the likes of Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz, with a second bid for Newcastle’s Alexander Isak being prepared.

And Premier League newcomers Leeds United are now looking to replicate Liverpool’s off-pitch antics with the latest changes to their matchday protocol.

Leeds copy Liverpool’s changes to club anthem

‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ has been a particularly fitting song for Liverpool down the years.

It is synonymous with Liverpool Football Club and represents what Reds fans are all about, supporting each other through the good and the bad.

Whether it be after Jurgen Klopp’s departure at the end of the 2023/24 season or the tragic passing of Diogo Jota recently, Liverpool fans remain one big family.

Leeds United have now copied the Reds’ approach to the song with their own ‘Marching On Together’ anthem.

The Whites have announced on their club website that there will be changes to the music before games.

Leeds will now have to play the iconic Premier League anthem as the players leave the tunnel. Therefore, they will now wait until after the players have shaken hands to play their iconic MOT anthem.

Leeds pointed out in the statement that it is the same as what Liverpool do with ‘YNWA’ pre-game, while Nottingham Forest adopted the same approach with their ‘Mull of Kintyre’ rendition.

Liverpool will look forward to Leeds clash

The Reds have had some interesting clashes with Daniel Farke’s sides over the years.

At the start of the 2019/20 season, Farke’s Norwich side pushed Jurgen Klopp’s side and earned plenty of plaudits despite a 4-1 defeat.

Given Liverpool’s spending this summer, along with the history of goalfests between the two sides, the Reds have reason to look forward to their fixtures against Leeds.
