Liverpool have already showed how they can still sign Isak – here’s how

Liverpool could still sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

The Anfield outfit had a bid for Isak, reported to be in the region of £110million, rejected by Newcastle on Friday (1 August).

It has been widely reported that the Premier League champions will not lodge another bid after their first offer was knocked back.

However, that is unlikely to be the case when looking at the previous precedent set by the club.

Hughes to utilise Edwards trick to bring Isak to Liverpool

When Liverpool want a player, they usually get them in the end, just like in the case of Virgil van Dijk and Alisson.

Michael Edwards is renowned as one of the best negotiators in the game, and Richard Hughes has learnt from one of the best in the game.

The Reds have previously pulled out of deals for Van Dijk and Alisson before revisiting them and ultimately bringing the players in, and the same could happen here.

Liverpool may still sign Isak

The fact that the L4 outfit have even made a bid is an encouraging sign because it means the Magpies’ not for sale stance has softened.

Given the bridges that the Swede has burned already at St James’ Park, the North East outfit will likely want to sell, especially if he ends up putting in a transfer request.

The briefing that another bid will not be sanctioned seems to be a popular negotiation tactic from Edwards, and it must have been handed down to Hughes, who is now in charge of transfers on Merseyside.

Liverpool are the only suitor for Isak, if Eddie Howe’s side wants to sell for a huge amount and reinvest, they need the Reds to come back to the table for the 25-year-old forward.

For Edwards and Co, it reduces the demands from the lofty £150m mark that they are not willing to pay and could make a deal more achievable as the window goes on.

Isak will likely still end up in Red before the window slams shut, unless something crazy happens and he changes his mind on moving on from the Carabao Cup winners.
