Liverpool give up on Isak – Three forwards Arne Slot could sign instead
Liverpool will have to settle for an alternative now that Alexander Isak is not likely to land at Anfield.
Isak has been at the top of Liverpool’s to-do list these past couple of days with his arrival at Anfield looking close. The Reds were expected to return to the charge after an initial bid worth over £100million was rejected by Newcastle.
However, it has now been reported that Liverpool have given up on the Swedish striker and will not make another offer.
As a result, the Merseyside club are set to move onto another pool of targets within the coming days.

Benjamin Sesko – RB Leipzig
Liverpool did it once with the arrival of Hugo Ekitike, and they could prepare to hijack another Newcastle United target after recent events.
The Magpies have been keen to sign Benjamin Sesko as a replacement for Isak, but Manchester United have pulled ahead in the race. Indeed, the RB Leipzig striker is reportedly keen on a move to Old Trafford this summer.
However, there is every chance he could be swayed otherwise if Liverpool enter the race for his signature. With Darwin Nunez expected to leave this summer and Isak no longer an option, Sesko could be the perfect market opportunity for the Reds to pounce on.

Jean-Philippe Mateta – Crystal Palace
As reported by FootMercato (14 July), Jean-Phillipe Mateta’s representatives met with Liverpool in Paris last month, with a deal rumoured to cost around £52m.
However, the transfer never materialised with the Reds opting to bring Ekitike to Anfield instead. But now the Isak file has seemingly been cast aside, Liverpool could reignite their interest in the Crystal Palace striker.
Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
2024/25 | 46 | 17 | 4 |
The Frenchman netted 17 goals and provided four assists in 46 appearances for Palace last season and could bring experience to this Liverpool side. As a result, this is one for fans to keep an eye on over the next couple of days.

Randal Kolo Muani – Paris Saint-Germain
Randal Kolo Muani has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer.
The Frenchman spent the second half of last season on loan at Juventus, who are keen to strike a deal with Paris Saint-Germain to sign him permanently. However, Liverpool could enter the race and could catch up quickly despite the Italian club’s head start.
Indeed, the striker could excel under Slot and exploit the space that the Premier League has to offer. With his ability to play on either wing and as a centre-forward, he would be a strong addition to an impressive Liverpool side.
