Alexander Isak to clear medical as Liverpool transfer update emerges
Liverpool are in hot pursuit of Newcastle striker Alexander Isak this summer.
Despite securing the services of Hugo Ekitike, the Anfield outfit are keen on signing the Sweden international.
Last season, Isak shone for the Magpies, scoring 23 league goals and providing six assists in 34 matches.

This story includes exclusive opinion from injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar, who is a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist.
Isak to clear medical despite toe issues last season
Despite multiple setbacks last season, the 25-year-old should clear his medical, according to Dr Brar.
Liverpool have not abandoned talks to sign Isak and could still make an offer for him this summer. (Fabrizio Romano, 2 August)
Season | Injury | Games Missed |
2024/25 | Groin Injury | 1 |
2024/25 | Hamstring Injury | 1 |
2024/25 | Broken Toe | 7 |
2023/24 | Groin Injury | 4 |
2023/24 | Groin Injury | 8 |
2022/23 | Thigh Problems | 18 |
Discussing the Isak situation, he told Liverpool News: “Isak dealt with hamstring and groin injuries last season, but both of them were minor injuries.
“Both kept him out just for one match each. Playing 34 out of 38 league games is always a good sign.
“His toe was actually the one that kept him out for longer, but that was at the start of the season and he seemed fine throughout it and played 90 minutes more often than not.
“Highly doubtful they’ll cause any issue with his transfer, but his injury history could be seen as risky considering the potential price.
“I do not expect any issues with his medical.”
Liverpool become Champions League favourites if they sign Isak
If Liverpool sign Isak, their prospects for winning the Premier League and becoming Champions League favourites would significantly improve.
The Swede offers clinical finishing and tactical versatility, perfectly complementing Liverpool’s attacking line led by Mohamed Salah and new signing Florian Wirtz.
His ability to score diverse goals and excel in counter-attacks aligns with Arne Slot’s high-scoring system, addressing the lack of a consistent No. 9.
With Liverpool’s financial flexibility due to a strong PSR position, adding Isak’s proven quality would create a formidable squad, capable of dominating domestically and outpacing European rivals, making them strong contenders for both titles.
