Mo Salah has been quietly coaching his Liverpool successor

Mohamed Salah has established himself as one of Liverpool’s greatest-ever attackers, and is already eyeing up his successor.

The 33-year-old signed a two-year deal to remain at Liverpool earlier this year, but the club will be looking at ways to replace him in the long term.

Salah just enjoyed his best campaign yet and has shown no signs of slowing down, but the time will eventually come to replace his source of goals from the wings.

Liverpool may already have Salah’s successor at Anfield, and he is now playing a part in helping him develop into a world-class winger.

Salah training Rio Ngumoha at Liverpool

Teenage sensation Rio Ngumoha has caught the eye in pre-season, and is becoming impossible to ignore despite his age.

The winger scored an outstanding goal against Yokohama FC during the Reds’ tour in Asia, and could find himself in the first team in the upcoming season.

The Daily Mail (August 1, page 75) have now reported that Salah has “played a pivotal role” in helping Ngumoha develop.

Salah is seemingly helping coach the 16-year-old to help improve his game, to mould him into a goalscoring winger who can take on defenders.

Luis Diaz has now left for Bayern Munich, and this could indicate that Liverpool are ready to fast-track Ngumoha’s progression into the first-team.

Ngumoha ready for Liverpool first team

Ngumoha’s performances in pre-season have shown that he is physically ready to play against senior defenders.

While there must still be caution before throwing him into the deep end, the teenager is ready for more first-team exposure, and the domestic cups could even see him start.

Arne Slot is now short of natural left-wingers following Diaz’s exit, and Ngumoha could be a solution in this regard.

In the next few years, if Ngumoha develops into a winger who can score and create from out wide, he could naturally succeed Salah in the team as the main source of output, and the Egyptian is clearly doing all he can to help ease this eventual transition.
