This is what Liverpool must do next as Isak now training away from Newcastle United
Liverpool have been given a boost in their ambitious pursuit of Alexander Isak.
The Reds are gearing up to make an official approach for Isak despite having already broken their record spending in one transfer window.
A deal for the heralded striker looked off the cards as Newcastle made it clear the 25-year-old was not for sale. However, the Sweden international is now pushing for a move, giving Liverpool more leverage to pursue his signature.
Arne Slot‘s side must now plot the best approach for the Sweden international and have been given a clear indication as to what the next steps should be.

Isak is training alone at Real Sociedad
Isak was left out of Newcastle’s squad ahead of their pre-season tour in Asia as he was nursing a minor thigh injury, although it is expected that part of the reasoning was to resolve his future.
The Carabao Cup winner has had his head turned by Liverpool, who are now in a better position to make a move after selling Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich.
As reported by Chronicle Live (31 July), Isak has now recovered from his setback and has been spotted training with a personal trainer in San Sebastian at his former club, Real Sociedad.
The former Borussia Dortmund man is expected to rejoin the Magpies in the UK after they return from their tour, giving the Reds a small window of opportunity to test the waters with an opening bid.
The fact that the centre-forward is training in Spain points to the growing disconnect between him and Newcastle, and this should be capitalised on swiftly.
With Manchester United pursuing a deal for Benjamin Sesko, who Newcastle could look to as a possible replacement for Isak, a brisk deal could also be in the best interest of Eddie Howe.

Isak’s injury record is a slight concern for Liverpool
On the surface, Isak would be an exceptional signing for the Reds as he has developed into one of the foremost strikers in European football.
He is the perfect age, and Isak’s wages should not be an issue for the Premier League champions, despite already spending handsomely this summer.
However, one blotch on the superstar’s record is his injury record, which is not as clean as the Reds would hope.
Season | Injuries | Days Missed | Games Missed |
2024/25 | 3 | 43 | 9 |
2023/24 | 2 | 56 | 12 |
2022/23 | 1 | 107 | 18 |
Therefore, with the added workload from the strain of European football awaiting Isak at Liverpool, Slot would have to be careful to manage the prolific goalscorer’s minutes to avoid any serious setbacks at Anfield.
