FSG magic on display at Liverpool as remarkable £308m figures emerge

Liverpool have surprised many with their outrageous spending in the transfer market this summer.

While the Reds were expected to spend, it is the sheer numbers that set them apart from the rest of the Premier League.

Florian Wirtz’s £116million transfer to Liverpool is a club-record fee, and spending has well surpassed £200million.

Now, it seems that FSG have worked more wonders after £308million figures have emerged at Anfield.

Liverpool surpass Man United commercially

Man City may have trumped Liverpool with their kit deal, but the Reds are making ground on them elsewhere.

Arne Slot’s side were in a league of their own last season, and could afford to take their foot off the accelerator towards the end of the campaign.

Recently, Liverpool received a record-breaking fee for a women’s player as Olivia Smith became the first £1million-plus signing.

Now, the Merseyside club have made another statement off the pitch as The Athletic (30 July) analyses their commercial revenue.

ClubCommercial income
Man City£344million
Liverpool£308million
Man United£303million
The Reds overtook the Red Devils

They report that over the past decade, commercial revenue has tripled, with the last set of accounts for 2023/24 showing a commercial income of £308million.

Furthermore, this total is more than half of the total revenue and was the first time Liverpool have surpassed Man United in the Premier League era.

The Anfield club’s chief commercial officer, Ben Latty, offered some ambitious words amid the figures.

Latty said: “The potential is huge. I believe we’re only just getting started in terms of where we can go as a commercial business.

“We have got the right people and the right structure in place to really kick on now.”

The Reds are on worldwide mission amid FSG developments

Liverpool have always had a global appeal, but now everything is coming together as they strive to become Europe’s elite club.

On the pitch, it has taken a while for the Reds to return to lifting consistent trophies, but now it is expected.

Rather than sit back and admire their achievements, the Anfield outfit are spending substantial money on transfers, but are also raking in funds.

The Merseyside club will be hoping they can land Isak, which would set them further apart from their rivals.

One thing that is for certain is that the Reds are on a mission to become the world’s best.
