Van Dijk sends love as emotional Liverpool exit message penned
Liverpool’s transfer window so far has mainly made headlines for their exceptional incomings.
Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and most notably Florian Wirtz all arrived at Anfield earlier on in the summer.
Hugo Ekitike also arrived to fill the void in Arne Slot’s squad up front as the Reds continued to add reinforcements ahead of the Dutchman’s second season in charge.
With Alexander Isak still a reported target, sales of some notable players likely had to be made to fund the Swedish international’s arrival at Anfield, with the first one of those confirming his departure.

Van Dijk sends message as Luis Diaz exit confirmed
Diaz has been continuously linked with a move away from Merseyside this summer, with Barcelona initially interested in the winger.
Eventually, it was Bayern Munich who managed to secure the Colombian’s services, with a fee of over £65million being agreed for the 28-year-old.
In an emotional statement posted on his Instagram account (30 July), Diaz confirmed his Anfield exit after three and a half years.
Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk left a like and comment on the post of his now former teammate.
The defender posted a simple heart emoji as he bid Diaz farewell as he moves to Munich.
The Colombian is not the only member of Slot’s squad to be linked with a move away, however, with Federico Chiesa rumoured to be moving back to Italy.
Correct decision by Liverpool to sell Diaz
There is no place for sentiment in football, and the fact that Richard Hughes just secured a sizeable profit for Diaz is a fantastic piece of business.
The sale can be comparable to the one of Sadio Mane for Liverpool, with the Reds appearing to sell a player at the height of his powers to a European rival.
Truth be told, Diaz has frustrated the Anfield faithful at times, and if his sale can help facilitate Isak’s arrival, then it is a move every Liverpool fan would sanction in a heartbeat.
Liverpool ultimately made the correct decision to sell Mane, with his form tapering off in Germany.
Whether Diaz’s move follows a similar path remains to be seen, with Liverpool potentially profiting at Bayern Munich’s expense again.
