Liverpool news round-up: Isak set for dream number with Howe ready for exit

Liverpool are set for a lively few weeks in the transfer market.

Fenway Sports Group have already backed Arne Slot with over £200million in new signings, but that spending spree is expected to continue.

The Reds have already signed Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong, and there are still areas of the squad that need reinforcing ahead of their Premier League title defence.

Alexander Isak could be the blockbuster cherry on top.

Rodrygo to Liverpool odds drift amid Real Madrid latest

Rodrygo has been linked with a move to Liverpool as Luis Diaz is set to join Bayern Munich.

However, the odds on that switch are drifting rather than crashing, going down to 4/1 with William Hill for him to join Slot’s side.

That suggests that a move for the Brazilian star is not in the offing at the moment.

How much can Liverpool save from Harvey Elliott exit?

Liverpool may decide to sell Harvey Elliott this summer.

Liverpool News estimates (28 July) that the Reds could save approximately £4.16million in wages if an exit is sanctioned for the young Englishman.

That is because the 22-year-old makes £2.08m per year and his current contract runs until 2027, according to Capology.

Isak ready to take dream shirt number at Liverpool

Alexander Isak’s move to Liverpool seems to be on the cards, and he may have a dream shirt number available if he joins.

Fabrizio Romano reported (28 July) that Federico Chiesa, the Reds’ current number 14, plans to leave Anfield and return to Serie A.

That could open up the door for Isak to take his preferred shirt number if he makes the move to Merseyside.

Howe knows Isak exit set amid Liverpool latest

Isak’s exit from Newcastle seems like a matter of time with Liverpool sniffing around.

The Swede has not been included on the pre-season tour of Asia and has made it clear that he wants to leave.

Former Premier League manager Neil Warnock believes that there is only one choice for Eddie Howe.

Speaking on talkSPORT (29 July, 7:07 am), he said: “I’ve had it before and there is only one outcome for me.

“That is him leaving, I just don’t see anything else, I think Ed (Howe) knows that as well.”
