Liverpool fans will love what Darwin Nunez has been spotted doing in Tokyo
Darwin Nunez has been heavily linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer after Arne Slot’s squad overhaul.
The Uruguayan has largely struggled at Anfield throughout his three-year stint, and an inconsistent 2024/25 campaign means that he could have played his last competitive game in a Liverpool shirt.
Nunez has been linked with moves to Napoli and Saudi Arabian clubs this summer, with talks over his exit set to accelerate after the Reds signed Hugo Ekitike.
Though the striker is now further down the pecking order at Anfield, he will have pleased supporters with what he has now been seen doing during the pre-season tour of Asia.

Nunez completes extra training for Liverpool
Slot has been quick to move on from last season’s squad this summer, bringing in Jeremie Frimpong to replace Trent Alexander Arnold.
Though the Reds are looking to quickly move on from Nunez, the 26-year-old is continuing to show his professionalism throughout the situation.

According to Daily Mail journalist Lewis Steele on X (29 July), the striker was seen doing extra training and working on his shooting in Tokyo, while captain Virgil van Dijk also stayed to practice free-kicks.
It was announced when Ekitike signed that he had been given the temporary squad number 54, with the Frenchman expected to take Nunez’s number nine shirt when he leaves.
Liverpool have also been targeting Newcastle’s Alexander Isak in recent weeks, and should the Swedish striker arrive on Merseyside, it seems that an exit for Nunez would be almost guaranteed.
It’s to Nunez’s credit that he sees the need to stick behind and work on certain aspects of his game. It is certainly something that will not go unnoticed.
Nunez can show what he’s capable off if he leaves Liverpool
If Nunez moves on, he will have the chance to finally show what he is capable of.
The striker has had a turbulent time on Merseyside, but the pressures of playing for such a big club have taken their toll on the 26-year-old.
Nunez was known for his clinical nature in Portugal, and that fell apart in England.
Wherever the Uruguayan ends up, he will still be remembered by supporters, and the Anfield faithful will continue to follow his career.
