How much Liverpool could save as West Ham and Lyon eye Morton transfer
Liverpool will need to shift some players after their heavy spending, as West Ham and Lyon target midfielder Tyler Morton.
The Reds were hesitant to add to their squad last summer, which has given them the license to spend freely over the past few weeks.
However, that has not prevented John Henry from making the necessary sales to compensate for Liverpool’s active window. The Anfield outfit are set to profit with Bayern Munich signing Luis Diaz for a reported £65.5million, while several more high-profile sales are anticipated.
And with sales come savings, which the Merseyside club could discover once again amid the latest on Morton.

Liverpool to save £416,000 from Morton transfer
Morton has been a feature at Liverpool since he joined their Academy at the age of seven.
The versatile defensive midfielder netted 3 goals and provided 2 assists in all competitions last season. This includes an assist against Brighton in the fourth round of the EFL Cup.
Morton’s performances on loan in the Championship, for Liverpool’s senior team and academy, have caught the eye of several suitors. This includes Lyon, who have made contact with the club and West Ham, who will need to sell before they buy, as reported by The Times (29 June).
Club | Contract Ends | Wages per Week | Wages per Year |
Liverpool | June, 2026 | £8,000 | £416,000 |
While Liverpool will be disheartened to see an academy talent leave, the Reds are set to save a fair amount on his transfer. According to Capology (29 July), Morton earns £416,000 in wages each year, with his contract set to expire in June 2026.
Therefore, if Liverpool are to sell the midfielder soon, they could make a respectable saving.

Liverpool must nail down Alexander Isak deal
Now that Diaz has landed in Germany, the Reds must turn their attention to sealing Alexander Isak’s transfer.
The Premier League-proven striker will be a massive boost in their UEFA Champions League dreams. With Isak at the helm, there is little reason why Liverpool cannot go back-to-back in the league.
With Newcastle United becoming increasingly likely to land Benjamin Sesko this summer, Isak seems days away from arriving at Anfield. Therefore, to guarantee his signing, Liverpool should accelerate the deal in the coming hours.
