Liverpool to save £416,000 from Morton transfer
Morton has been a feature at Liverpool since he joined their Academy at the age of seven.
The versatile defensive midfielder netted 3 goals and provided 2 assists in all competitions last season. This includes an assist against Brighton in the fourth round of the EFL Cup.
Morton’s performances on loan in the Championship, for Liverpool’s senior team and academy, have caught the eye of several suitors. This includes Lyon, who have made contact with the club and West Ham, who will need to sell before they buy, as reported by The Times (29 June).

While Liverpool will be disheartened to see an academy talent leave, the Reds are set to save a fair amount on his transfer. According to Capology (29 July), Morton earns £416,000 in wages each year, with his contract set to expire in June 2026.

Now that Diaz has landed in Germany, the Reds must turn their attention to sealing Alexander Isak’s transfer.
