How much money Liverpool could save amid Harvey Elliott exit latest

Harvey Elliott is expected to leave Anfield this summer, and Liverpool could pocket a sizable amount from his transfer.

After six years with the Reds, Elliott could leave the Merseyside club in search of a new adventure.

Since he was signed from Fulham in 2019, the Englishman has struggled to cement himself as a regular starter. As a result, moving to a team where he is guaranteed frequent gametime looks to be an attractive option.

While Liverpool will begrudgingly bid him farewell, the current Premier League winners could benefit from his departure.

Liverpool could pocket £54million-plus by selling Elliott

Elliott has piqued the interest of several clubs this summer, including Tottenham, and Liverpool could pocket a fair amount if he is sold.

According to Capology (28 July), Elliot makes £2.08million each year from wages on a contract which runs until 2027. If the Englishman leaves the club in the coming weeks, Liverpool are set to save £4.16m in wages from the transfer.

Furthermore, as reported by The Mail (1 July), Liverpool could seek a fee of over £50m for the Under-21 European Championship Player of the Tournament. As a result, the Merseyside club could make more than £54m if Elliott leaves Anfield this summer.

Thus, a departure for Elliott before the end of the window could be best for all involved.

Liverpool have a lot to look forward to

Liverpool are building a team which not only could see them retain their Premier League title but also win the UEFA Champions League next season.

Indeed, with names like Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, it is difficult to see how the Reds do not win it all. However, as most already know, football is not played on paper.

Wirtz and Ekitike have never played in the Premier League, while Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and potentially Alexander Isak still need to adapt to a new team. But Arne Slot seems to have achieved the perfect balance of new to old players, which could help the transition.

Indeed, Kerkez and Frimpong will have Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate sandwiched between them with Alisson Becker behind. Meanwhile, Wirtz and his fellow attackers will have several experienced Reds to help guide them on the pitch.

Therefore, Slot may have little to worry about when assembling his team for next season.
